No Mayor Pro Tem Before It's Time

One item on tonight's council agenda, Tuesday, May 2, was the possible selection of a new Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem. These offices are traditionally filled in June after elections and after the summer council retreat.

Someone must have lost their calendar because two council members wanted to have new elections for those positions tonight.

The only real reason for jumping the gun were either a) résumé padding for a candidate that is running for re-election, or b) getting someone elected before all his friends have to step down.

Sanity prevailed with everyone voting against having the early elections, except Holden, Dunn, and Hickey.

I can't help but notice that Holden, Dunn, and Hickey are against elections when it isn't to their advantage but are perfectly willing to have early elections if they have something to gain.

Actually, in either scenario, their actions are predictable by whether they have something to gain.
