Police are investigating what they believe is a double murder-suicide at an apartment complex in Garland.
Preliminary investigation shows that Robert Andrews, 46, shot and killed his wife, Tammy, 46, 17-year-old daughter Sarah and the family dog before he turned the gun on himself, Garland police said.
An apartment manager found their bodies inside their unit at the Seven Oaks apartment complex in the 2000 block of West Campbell Road about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, said Joe Harn, a Garland police spokesman. Mr. Andrews' co-workers had notified apartment management after he didn't show up for work.
Officers found a pistol inside the apartment.
Joyce Salmon, who lives in the complex, said Tuesday that she was friendly with the victims and shocked to hear the news. She said the family moved in less than a year ago. The dog was a mutt named Penny, she said.
"I was horrified," Ms. Salmon said. "It's a total shock."
