Tonight Shae, my son, with Robyn, my wife, standing behind him, swore me in for my second term as the Representative for District 1 on the Garland City Council. I tried to throw him a curve ball. As I did two years ago, I added to the oath my promise to follow the City Charter, which is not officially part of the oath since it is state promulgated. He handled the pitch fine.
It was a very proud moment for me, one that I'll always remember … and one he'll probably forget tomorrow.
The representatives for Districts 1, 2, 4, and 5 all began new terms tonight. It is also the second term for Laura Cox, District 2, and Larry Jeffus, District 4. John Willis begins his first term for District 5.
I want to thank the residents of District 1 for their support these last two years. We have a great district, we have accomplished much, and we have much still to do. I will continue to do my job to advance District 1, to improve the quality of life, and to foster community.
For so many, and for me, too, I think there is more pride in our city than ever. We are all working to make this city, our home, the best place to live. We do still have plenty of challenges, but as I hope anyone that reads this blog realizes, we have a firm and rewarding path forward.
Thank you!
