Last year's Safety Fest was great! (Check the photos at the link.) There was so much to see and learn and it was all unusual, things you wouldn't see or learn elsewhere.
 
Safety Fest returns Saturday at the new Fire Administration Building on Hwy 66. This is a special facility and has wonderful training facilities, which I'm confident will be on full display. In addition to the activities, see this building! Garland residents can be very proud of this new administration and training facility.
 
Safety Fest is very kid friendly and fun — the kids will be much more safety conscious afterwards, without even knowing they learned something good for them and the family.
 
It's not all that different from going to the circus, just that there's a lot more than three rings of activity. It will be a fantastic show and the price is perfect!

Garland Fire Department Invites Community to SafetyFest:
Fire and Injury Prevention Festival

Garland, TX - The Garland Fire Department is excited to announce its 2nd Annual SafetyFest. Families are invited to attend this fire and injury prevention festival which will feature exciting educational presentations including rappelling, disaster preparedness, vehicle extrication, water safety, stranger awareness, bicycle safety, and the thrilling experience of seeing the landing of the CareFlite emergency helicopter. Displays will include a fire engine, ambulance, and police unit. Kids can join the Girls with Goals in making some very special cards for Mother’s Day. And best of all, it is all free! Increase family awareness of hazards in and around the home and be a part of Safetyfest.
 
The Garland Fire Department Safety Fest is especially proud to announce a partnership with Dallas Area Safe Kids and the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC) to provide car installation checks and 50 free car seats*! Certified technicians will be on site to check existing car seats for proper installation.

The event will be at the Garland Fire Department Administration and Training Facility, located at 1500 State Hwy. 66, Garland, TX 75044. This is a beautiful, brand new facility which opened in October 2007. The site is on S.H. 66 between Country Club Rd. and Centerville Rd. Additional parking area for the event with free shuttle service to the site is available at Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1233 S.H. 66, Garland, TX 75040 (northwest corner of S.H. 66 and Country Club).
 
*New car seats will be provided first come, first served on an AS NEEDED basis, based on the technicians’ recommendation. Seats provided at no cost to the parent. Free car seats will only be available during SafetyFest, so arrive early.
