02/11/08
Our crime statistics rose to their highest level in the last six months, but are about the same as July (79) and lower than May (88). I know in my neighborhood thieves have been cruising the alleys looking for quick grabs. A neighbor lost her purse while unloading her car and another neighbor's son lost items as he was loading his car to return to college. That both neighbors could have easily returned at any moment shows the brazenness.
A number of incidents were again in the parking areas along N Garland Ave and around the Town Center. Please be sure your windows are closed and doors are locked when shopping.
It is not too unusual for a group of thieves to work an area and then move on or to have juveniles causing problems. Our police department sees the trend immediately and has done an excellent job catching many of them before they decide to move on or identifying the juveniles.
Be safety conscious at all times. Report incidents to the police immediately. Report suspicious activities or persons. The non-emergency number is (972) 485-4840. Let's work to keep our families and neighbors safe!
