Culex Quinquefasciatus
|
At the Council's last work session, we received a report on mosquito conditions in Garland, as requested by Council members Laura Cox and Larry Jeffus.
Who knew we had over 40 species of mosquitoes and that only one has been identified as a West Nile Virus carrier? Would you recognize a quink's personality?
The presentation was by Richard Briley, Director of the Health and Code Departments. The presentation covered mosquito spraying purposes and methods, too.
This is better than the Discovery Channel. Click the links below to watch both segments to get the whole story.

Update: A subsequent Dallas Morning News article on mosquitoes, "Moveable Feast", by Karen Shaw Anderson, provides some more interesting information that complements the information from the Council's work session.
